Group Leader - First Aid
Wendy Withrington
Born & Educated in Bristol
Trained as an enrolled nurse in Southampton then as a district
enrolled nurse, finally qualifying at Winchester as a R.G.N.
Worked at Winchester hospital for 30 years practicing in most areas
of nursing, concentrating on Orthopaedics and A/E and modifying
and initiating a computer program for the Emergency Department.
Became registered in first aid with The Red Cross and attended
functions where first aid was required.
Married and having one daughter and two grandchildren, Wendy,
along with her husband decided to come to Spain following their
retirement. Tragically Wendy's husband died here in Spain in 2003
following a very short illness.
Wendy decided to join U3A Torrevieja to fill in time and to increase
her knowledge, saw there was a need to help people understand
what to do in a given emergency, so volunteered to commence a
"BASIC HOME FIRST AID" group.
Wendy's First Aid Group covers problems and emergencies within the home. The group meets once a month
and covers topics such as:- Contents of First Aid Box, Rescue Breaths And Chest Compressions. Shock,
Choking, Injuries and Bandages. The group will also cover illness at a later date. It is a fun time but with a
serious side and all who have attended so far, have found the sessions to be very helpful.
Start Time is 4:00 pm and the last session before the summer break is on the 7th June. Re-starting October.
