U3A stands for the University of the Third Age and ours is a self help
group based in Torrevieja (Costa Blanca) for people aged 50 and over,
although there is no specified minimum age for membership, but who are
no longer in full time employment.
The purpose of our organisation is to provide education, including
such activities as creative and leisure opportunities, in a relaxed
and friendly environment.
Local U3As are learning co-operatives which draw upon the knowledge
and skills of their own members to organise and provide interest groups
in accordance with the wishes of the membership.
Our organisation encourages and enables older people to help each
other share their knowledge, skills and experience to celebrate the
capabilities and potential of older people and their value to society.
Between them, groups offer the chance to study many different subjects
in such fields as art, languages, music, history, life sciences, philosophy,
computing, crafts, photography and walking.
Our approach to learning is "learning for pleasure".
There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments
or qualifications to be gained.
If you are interested in joining our club, then we invite you to join us.
Perhaps you would like to come to one of our monthly meetings?
You can do this twice for a visitor's fee of €2 per visit. If you decide to
join Torrevieja U3A, membership currently costs €12 for the year or
€6 after June 1st. Renewal of your membership each year is at that year's
annual rate no matter what time of year you renew.
